Development Methodology: What’s the Story?

A great article by DWH godfather Bill Inmon about the how and why of introducing Methodology’s to organisations, he concludes with:

One of the great secrets of a successful methodology is that it is focuses on what to do, not how to do it. Unfortunately, when organizations buy a methodology, they buy it for the wrong purpose. Organizations buy a methodology for the purpose of learning how to do something, and that automatically limits the effectiveness of the methodology.
